SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Eden Bowls selected the best available players to represent the province against the best in the country in the various national tournaments to be played in the near future.
The teams of senior players will all compete in tournaments in Johannesburg with the juniors to compete in Bloemfontein.
Fifteen new players, who have proven themselves over the past year, were included in the various teams and capped at a special ceremony when the names of the teams were announced.
The players who received Eden provincial colours for the first time are: Tish Cameron, Petro Breedt, Sharon Shaw (all ladies B-side), Edith Spence, Rosalie Horning, Peta-Ann Basford (all senior ladies side), Nols Kuhn, Kyle van As, Francois Steyn, Riaan Laing (all men B-side), Duncan Spencer- Ross, Hans Claassen, Ristoff van Wyk, Piet Robbertse and Stuart Marchant (all senior men side).
The teams include two Protea players, Billy Radloff and Elma Davis, both members of the George Bowling Club, as well as Arlene Bosse (Knysna Bowling Club) who represented the South African Senior Ladies side.
According to Eden President Japie Combrink they have selected strong teams and he is full of confidence that the teams will show their colours clearly against the best in the country.
