GEORGE NEWS - The Sunshine Senior Tour is pleased to announce that a professional golf tournament will take place at Kingswood Golf Estate from 13 - 14 October.
A superb field of professional golfers over 50 years of age will compete in the inaugural Fidelity Kingswood Classic over 36 holes at the Kingswood Golf Course.
On 13 October, a Pro-Am will take place where 28 professionals will team up with amateur players in teams of four for some nice prizes.
Players like Nic Henning, André Cruse, Chris Davison, Neil Cheetham and Rodger Wessels are all champion golfers of years gone by. Nic played in the World Cup for South Africa while Rodger won the PGA Championship of SA and Chris the SA Masters respectively. Neil has posted a score of 60 in our SA Senior Masters and is a multiple winner on our tour. André also has had a wonderful career and won the SA Senior Masters among other achievements.
These players will compete in a small but strong field and will be challenged by locals Mike Quinn and Robert Wiederkehr.
The course is in wonderful condition with smooth and quick greens suitable for low scoring. The Kingswood golf course greenkeeping staff must be congratulated for the hard work they’ve done preparing the course.
"George is a fantastic town to visit, and George Tourism has done us proud enabling the Senior Tour to organise the event in a magnificent part of the world," said Kingswood in a statement today.
"Fidelity, as part of its agreement with the Kingswood Golf Estate Homeowners Association, will be hosting this event for years to come and we are sure it will grow in stature and strength in the future."
