FOOTBALL NEWS - Vutha FC were crowned champions of last weekend's Silver Town football tournament in Thembalethu after beating Juventus 2(7) - 2(6) in a penalty shoot-out last Sunday to claim the title plus a handy cash prize.
Both teams played highly entertaining football.
In the semi-finals, Juventus sank City Pillars 1-0 and Vutha defeated California 3-0.
Talented Luzuko Sabelesiva (Vutha) started the final with a long-range strike, but his shot was well-saved by Juventus goalkeeper, Siyanda Kalo.
Juventus retaliated with a strong attack from the right side of the field, causing Vutha's backline to panic. Juventus were rewarded a corner kick after dangerous play but failed to capitalise.
Akhona Mlinganiso (Juventus) tried his luck driving a long-range shot after receiving a beautiful pass from the centre of the field.
Nokepeyi Akhona (Juventus) impressed with his attacking play.
Mlinganiso put Juventus in the lead, scoring the first goal after the Vutha defenders failed to clear the ball from Yanga Khahlule's corner kick.
Vutha received the first corner of the game but missed the target. The evergreen Sabelesiva stood out on the attack and created several goal-scoring chances for his side.
Vutha received a penalty after a Juventus defender handled the ball inside the box. Sabelesiva converted the penalty to equalise the score 1-1.

The second half was marked by both sides creating some magic on the ball. Yanga Khahlule (Juventus) delivered a powerful cross inside the box for Olothando Hilitwa (Juventus), who scored to make it 2-1 after a marvellous header.
Qhamani Ninzi (Vutha) was on fire, playing some beautiful passes and creating chances from the centre of the field. He surprised everyone when he scored the second goal for Vutha.
Juventus tried to come back in full force in the dying moments of the game. Lwazi Mkhetho drove a powerful long-range shot just outside the box, but it hit the right post denying Juventus a third goal and the game ended 2-2.
