FOOTBALL NEWS - With a resounding second-half performance, the FC Pacaltsdorp outfit punished the struggling Bangalore FC 1-0 in a Geolfa Promotional League fixture at the Lawaaikamp Stadium last weekend.
Gladwill Booysen scored the only goal of the game. Pacs goalkeeper Maks Mashaba did an outstanding job preventing the Thembalethu club from scoring any goals.
Both teams are currently at the bottom half of the Geolfa Promotional League log table.
Balanced first half
The fixture got off to a great start as Pacs launched an offensive movement from the left side of the field. Bangalore’s backline soaked up the pressure very well, managing to delay their attack.
With both teams rolling the ball on the carpet, Pacs’ offensive player, Perrigrant Thys, attempted to break through Bangalore’s defence.
Pacs was awarded a corner kick on the right side of the field, but the shot went straight to Bangalore goalkeeper Zolani Qatana. Bangalore players Maphelo Ntaka and Zovuyo Maduna were employing their speed, but could not break through Pacaltsdorp’s solid defence. The first half ended 0-0 after balanced play on both sides.
Playing pressing game
The second half saw both teams building their passes from the centre of the field, with Pacs pushing for a breakthrough to create scoring opportunities and Bangalore relying on the pace of their wingers.
Pacaltsdorp got the upper hand when Booysen scored their first goal.
Bangalore was one man down after Asimanye Booysen was given a red card for challenging a match official, and the side did not manage to come up with an answer to Pacs’ goal.
