The Kensington Cup is the largest and most prestigious youth soccer competition in the Western Cape and hosts the very best teams both regionally and nationally, such as Ajax Cape Town and Santos as well as many others.
For a team from George to be invited is a wonderful achievement for all associated with the club and for the players who have worked so hard to be able to compete at the highest level of the game. This is the third year George United have participated in the event and the teams are hoping for a successful tour and to continue the good reputation built up over previous years and improve on last year's final standings with the under 15 making it to the last 16 and the under 11 getting knocked out by Vasco Da Gama.
The George United teams were chosen from members of George United Football Club members during an open trial and selected by a team of expert coaches in order to produce the best team from the club and the players have been training hard and put though specially designed program in order to get the best possible training and preparation for this incomparable event. The tournament will be held at the Kensington Sports fields and the teams will be staying at the Western Cape Sports School.
