GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - The Silver Town-based side Silver Stars thrashed Paris United 5-0 in a Geolfa fixture played at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 1 April.
Throughout the first half Paris United gave a strong performance, trying to control the game from the centre of the field with their wingers creating chances into the box. However, their efforts were no match for Silver Stars.
Silver Stars opened the score with a goal by Kamvalethu Dyordan after launching an attack from the centre of the field and breaking through Paris United's defence. This was followed by a goal from Liyema Mbudi, making it 2-0. Silver Stars used the pace of their flanks to deliver the ball to Liyema Mbudi, who scored his second goal and extended their advantage to 3-0. In the remaining time of the first half, Paris United failed to score from a free kick after a foul, as well as a soft penalty after Silver Stars handled the ball inside the box. Silver Stars were leading 3-0 into the break.
The second half saw both teams grinding for more goals. Paris United were working overtime to block the strong attacks from Silver Stars' wingers. Paris United received a corner kick on the left side of the field, but their kick missed the goal and the ball was cleared away. Asiphe Nkata of Silver Stars put in an impressive solo effort and managed to score the fourth goal for his side. Silver Stars were now on a running streak and Paris United battled to defend their goal. Asiphe Nkata played in a cross from the right side of the field and Lungisa Mzolo netted the fifth goal for Silver Stars shortly before the end of the game, collecting maximum points.
