Silver Stars FC go down

GEORGE NEWS - The Thembalethu-based side Vista Football Club beat the Silver Town team Silver Stars 3-2 in a Geolfa League encounter on Sunday afternoon, 17 March at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.

After playing eleven fixtures, Vista FC is currently seventh on the Geolfa League log table, while Silver Stars are occupying the bottom half.

The encounter got off to a good start with both teams controlling the game from the centre of the field. Within the first five minutes, Asiphe Nkata of Silver Stars caught the Vista defenders napping and scored the first goal.

On the right side of the field, Lilitha Myeki of Vista delivered a powerful cross trying for Vista's first goal, but it was well saved by Silver Stars goalkeeper Babalo Lisani. Facing a strong attack from Silver Stars flanks, Vista put up strong defence. However, the Silver Town team broke through and Asiphe Nkata tried for his brace, but the powerful strike went straight to Vista goalkeeper Amyoli Williams. Attacking from the centre of the field, Lilitha Myeki of Vista netted the equalising goal to make it 1-1. Vista received a penalty after a Silver Stars defender handled the ball inside the box, but Thulani Sontashe failed to score after a brilliant save from the Silver Stars goalkeeper. At half time the score was 1-1.

Silver Stars replied with inter-passes to try and break through their opponents' back line, but it was a penalty kick that saw Kamva Dyordan netting the equalising goal to make it 2-2. Excellent play with exceptional ball handling from both sides eventually saw Mpho Joka of Vista scoring the third and winning goal for his side.
