SOCCER NEWS - Raul Stars FC were officially crowned the George Local Football Association (Geolfa) Promotional League champions for the 2025/26 season after a 2-2 draw with Future Stars at Thembalethu Stadium on Sunday 26 July.
The title marks the club's second promotional league triumph, the first having been in the 2020/21 season.
Raul Stars had an outstanding campaign, winning 23 of their 30 matches, drawing five and losing only two. They scored an impressive 94 goals while conceding just 20, earning the league's best defensive record.
The champions now qualify for next month's regional LFA promotional play-offs.
In their final fixture, Thando Balani opened the scoring before Chulumanco Tyalana converted a penalty to make it 2-0. Future Stars responded through Linamandla Jadan Mtonga before the break, and Ayabonga Mntengwana equalised in the second half after Raul Stars goalkeeper Endinako Mdaka saved a penalty from Esam Mtyaphi.
Head coach Nyameko Ntshingwa praised his players' discipline, resilience and teamwork following the club's return from relegation.
He also thanked supporters, club officials and the wider football community for believing in the team's vision and sup-porting their successful campaign.
