GEOrGE NEWS - On the last day of the Geolfa domestic league, Paris United FC were crowned the league champions for the 2023/24 season. Their opponents for the last game, Silver Stars, did not honour the fixture.
The Thembalethu-based side has displayed a solid performance throughout the season and amassed 71 points.
Paris United has played 30 fixtures with 22 victories, five draws and three defeats, netting 94 goals. They also boast the best defending record after conceding just 26 goals during the entire season.
The next step
Paris United will be representing George in the Inter LFAs playoffs scheduled to be played in Riversdale this coming weekend, 3 and 4 August. If they perform exceptionally, they might find themselves playing in the elite Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Regional League for the 2024/25 season.
Relegation battles
Bangalore FC lost their fight when they went down 3-1 against Vista Football Club on Sunday morning, 28 July at the Lawaaikamp Stadium. The Zone 9 team Young Killers could not retain their domestic league status, failing to collect points after playing two draws in their last fixtures.
The limping Bangalore FC, the Zone 9 team Young Killers and the struggling Thembalethu Brothers have been relegated to the Promotional/Development League for the 2024/2025 season.
