GEORGE SOCCER NEWS - It never rains but it pours for Black Cats. The Lawaaikamp giants fell out in the knock-out stages of the Mayor's Cup after falling short in goals.
Paris United got the sweet taste of victory when they sank Black Cats "SAB" 3-2 on Sunday afternoon, 8 September, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The goals were scored by Anele Pungwana (2) and Bunalo Dyandyi for Paris United and Lunga Janjies and Luyanda Laho for Black Cats. Paris United scored two goals within the first twenty-five minutes with Anele "Salt and Vinegar" Pungwana opening the score. Black Cats tried to come back trying to equalise but they failed to convert their chances.
Black Cats received a free kick inside the box. Jwaqa Mzwanele took the ball but his powerful strike was denied by the upright.
Paris United launched their attack from the centre of the field unlocking Black Cats defenders, leading to the second goal by Bunalo Dyandyi to make it 2-0.
Another attempt from Black Cats striker Lunga Janjies was blocked by Paris United goalkeeper Sandile Claasen, causing another clear-cut chance for Black Cats to fail. When the first half whistle blew the score was 2-0, Paris leading.
In the second half Black Cats started at a fast pace chasing goals and had success when Lunga Janjies scored their first goal to make it 2-1.
Paris United's centre midfielder Sibusiso Jevu delivered a clever pass to the right from the centre of the field and found Pungwana just outside the box, who surprised everyone when he drove a long-range shot beating Aphelo Skiet, the Black Cats goalkeeper, with a world-class third goal, changing the score to 3-1.
This gave Black Cats hope and they followed it up with a second goal by Luyanda "Evergreen" Laho in the dying moments of the game. The entertaining game ended 3-2.
