It’s an issue that has preoccupied the coach since Brighton Mhlongo tore his anterior ligament last week against SuperSport United. Mhlongo underwent a successful operation on Friday which will see him out for eight to 10 weeks.
That leaves Tinkler with only Felipe Ovono as the registered goalkeeper. Ovono was rested for the 4-1 win against Chippa United on Tuesday, protecting him for Saturday’s clash with Congo’s AC Leopards on Saturday at 6pm at Orlando Stadium.
“It’s not an ideal situation,” Tinkler said.
“That’s why I protected Ovono. You would think that since he has been in the bench behind Brighton that he would be the one who gets into the starting line-up. But I feared that should he get injured, I would have gone into that match without a goalkeeper.
