GEORGE NEWS - The Lawaaikamp giants Black Cats Football Club collected much-needed points in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League when they sank Cape Town side Jomo Powers 2-0 on Sunday 30 April at the Lawaaikamp Stadium in George. Both sides are sitting in a precarious position at the bottom of the log table fighting for their survival in the league.
It was only Black Cats' third win in the league this season and their first win in four months, with their previous victory on 18 December 2021 against Gansbaai City at the Rosemoor Stadium in George.
Both goals came in the first half and were scored by Mzwanele Jwaqa and Xolani Mandla. Black Cats' centre middle fielder, Tsepo Mbemyane, played an exceptional game dominating from the centre of the field.
The Cape Town side Jomo Powers failed to score from a number of chances during the first half, including a free kick, a set piece and an attempt by Kholisi Jonjica which hit the upright pole.
The home team made best use of their advantage, with Mzwanele Jwaqa and Tsepo Mbemyane controlling the game from the centre of the field. After their first goal, netted by Mzwanele Jwaqa, Black Cats gained confidence and Xolani Mandla scored the second goal in the last minutes of the first half, seeing them lead with a score of 2-0 going into the break.
