GEORGE NEWS - George Royal Academy dazzled at Nelson Mandela University Stadium on Thursday, 14 August, securing a thrilling 1-0 victory over Jonga High in the Kay Motsepe U19 Local Schools Cup preliminary round.
Asiphe Nkatha stole the show with a stunning goal in the second half, outpacing Jonga’s defense, while Zusakhe Manzi’s powerful shot nearly doubled the lead, stopped only by the woodwork.
Despite a goalless first half, the Academy boys’ energy shone through, earning them maximum points.
In a tougher match, they fell 1-0 to Imizamo Yethu High, where Luzuko Blekiwe’s long-range strike beat goalkeeper Weldon Koen, but the Academy still leads the log with 9 points from four games - three wins and one draw - putting them in a strong position to represent George in the regional eliminations!
