SOCCER NEWS - Fast Eleven FC sank Simunye 2-0 with a solid performance in a Safa Eden HollywoodBets Regional League encounter at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday 22 February. With 37 points, Simunye is aiming for the Regional League title.
So far, they have played 17 fixtures with 11 wins, four draws and two defeats. Fast Eleven is in the bottom half of the table with 16 points.
Simunye centre back Philani Kunene deserves special mention for his efforts in the first half, where he controlled and marshalled the back line.
The first half was marked by balanced play with both sides playing attacking football on the wings. However, they failed to convert their chances and no goals were scored. The second half saw both teams playing the ball on the ground with Fast Eleven pushing on the right side of the field.
Mesuli Ndizana netted the first goal, making it 1-0. Simunye chased the game, but the Fast Eleven back line kept them in check. Mkhanyisi Manciya extended Fast Eleven's lead to 2-0.
Despite being given a penalty kick, Simunye did not manage to capitalise and no more goals were scored. Fast Eleven pocketed maximum points.
Fast Eleven head coach Thulasizwe Simelane said the win against Simunye boosted his players' confidence. They will now build up their spirit and confidence and fight to reach the top eight positions.
