GEORGE NEWS - An excellent goal from Sinalo Sikateni helped the Silver Town-based side Silver Stars secure a 1-1 draw against Fast Eleven in a tough Geolfa League game on Sunday afternoon, 8 May at the Thembalethu Stadium.
Odwa Gayi netted the first goal for Fast Eleven. Silver Stars are currently second on the log, breathing in the necks of Domestic League team Black Cats, while Fast Eleven are in fifth position after winning 10 games, drawing two and losing five.
Silver Stars shot stopper Wandisa Nkotana played very well, denying Fast Eleven some clear-cut scoring opportunities. Odwa Gayi of Fast Eleven was one of the shining stars displaying beautiful touches on the ball.
Fast Eleven missed their first chance to score when Jongikhaya Myana's shot went wide, but they went on to net their first goal in the first 10 minutes of the game, courtesy of Gayi.
Silver Stars retaliated with attacks and Sikateni managed to score the equalising goal after a superb cross played in from the right side of the field.
Though both teams were playing attacking football during the first half, they did not manage to score again.
The second half saw Fast Eleven looking more dangerous on the ball while Silver Stars were relying on the strength of Sinalo Sikateni on left wing and Asiphe Nkatha on right wing. Fast Eleven received a corner kick in the last minutes of the game but it was cleared away by Silver Stars defender Siyolise Nadopu.
More attempts to score by Silver Stars players Ayabonga Fanelo, Lihle Guquka and Kamvalethu Dyordan were unsuccessful. Odwa Gayi of Fast Eleven also missed an opportunity when his shot was blocked by Silver Stars goalkeeper Wandisa Nkotana.
