GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - After a long and painful wait of more than 11 months (no thanks to the Covid-19-pandemic), amateur soccer will resume in the first week of March.
The South African Football Association (Safa) announced that provincial, regional and domestic (local) leagues will restart in March, but warned that Covid-19 protocols must be adhered to at all times in order to mitigate the risk of spreading the virus.
All amateur teams can start their training sessions with immediate effect.
Safa instructed all amateur teams to create daily registers for use during training sessions and league matches.
All teams are requested to buy scanners for temperature checking at all times. No spectators will be allowed to attend training sessions or league matches. Safa was adamant that no supporters will be allowed at games.
For local soccer players there is finally a light at the end of a long and dark tunnel.
