A second round of 50-over matches was scheduled, but with heavy rain passing through the city the other games were all washed out after just a handful of overs.
Limpopo’s clash with KwaZulu-Natal Inland did not escape the rain completely, but fortunately the players were able to get back onto the Top Oval at the Wanderers once it had passed.
KZN Inland had reached 84 for four in 26 overs, and so Limpopo were set a revised target of 134 in 26 overs.
Patel shared a crucial 73-run stand for the second wicket with Johan Harms, and after Jared Meiring had hit back with two wickets in one over, he added a further 37 with Gerhardus Fourie.
Patel eventually fell with five runs required from nine deliveries, but Limpopo had no trouble getting over the line, winning by five wickets with five balls to spare. –
