GARDEN ROUTE - Last Saturday, Knysna Cavaliers became the fist team this season to record a victory against the defending champions, Pacaltsdorp United. Cavaliers, who posted 197 thanks to half centuries by JP Ellis (67) and Keenan Vieira (55), won by 77 runs after Pacaltsdorp was dismissed for only 120. With this victory Cavaliers, together with Union Stars I and II, will now battle it out for the second and third place and qualification for the qualifier to determine the second finalist.
Union Stars II (152 all out) beat George (143 all out) by 9 runs while Union Stars I (102/8) recorded a two-wicket victory against Mossel Bay (99 all out). For Mossel Bay, Arno Moolman (6/23) excelled with the ball.
Plett Pioneers 292 (all out) moved away from the relegation zone thanks to a 177-run victory against Harlequins Forces (175 all out). Kyle Jacobs (104) was the hero for Pioneers with a fine century.
