GARDEN ROUTE CRICKET NEWS - Union Stars (187/7 in 39,4 overs) ended on top of the SWD Premier League after a three-wicket victory against Ramblers (182 all out) at the Bridgton Sports Ground in Oudtshoorn on Saturday.
Although the home team won by a bonus point for reaching the target within 40 overs, they had to work hard.
It was eventually the experienced Pieter Stuurman (61) who secured a victory with a well-played half-century.
George (107/2) ended second on the log after they defeated Pioneers (106 all out) by eight wickets and will have home ground advantage in the play-off to determine the other finalist when they take on Knysna Cavaliers on Saturday. Gary Wagner (50* not out) and Grant Simpson (4/25) excelled for George.
Knysna Cavaliers (224 all out), who had their best performance in a decade, ended third on the log after they defeated Harlequins (121 all out) by 103 runs. Irvin Campher (70* with the bat) and (3/10 with the ball) was the hero for Cavaliers.
