GEORGE NEWS - Two players from the Garden Route Badgers professional women's team, Annerie Dercksen and Mieke de Ridder, were part of the Protea women silver medallist team at the ICC T20 World Cup that ended in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
The Protea women, after reaching their second consecutive ICC T20 World Cup final, unfortunately lost by 32 runs against New Zealand in the final.
They did, however, achieve a remarkable victory in the semi-finals against the six-time champions, Australia.
Dercksen, who hails from Beaufort West, played in all six World Cup matches and ended the tournament with a batting average of 31, bagging two wickets in the tournament at an average of 13.00.
She represented SWD at all girls' cricket age group teams before she made her debut for the senior team.
Mieke de Ridder
De Ridder went to the World Cup as a back-up for Sinelo Jaftha.
