In the women's 800m event, Caster Semenya delivered a fine performance with her first international title in six years.
Semenya produced a strong sprint down the home straight to win a tactical contest in 2:00.97.
Russell Tucker earned victory in the men's discus throw with a 60.41m heave, and Lebogang Shange grabbed gold in the men's 20km walk in 1:26:43, with countryman Wayne Snyman finishing third in 1:27:32.
Veteran Chris Harmse reached the podium at the Games for the fifth time in his career, with a silver medal in the men's hammer throw, launching a best effort of 73.49m.
Compatriot Ischke Senekal also took second place, in the women's discus throw, with a 50.53m attempt.
