In the women's 800m event, Caster Semenya delivered a fine performance with her first international title in six years.
Semenya produced a strong sprint down the home straight to win a tactical contest in 2:00.97.
Russell Tucker earned victory in the men's discus throw with a 60.41m heave, and Lebogang Shange grabbed gold in the men's 20km walk in 1:26:43, with countryman Wayne Snyman finishing third in 1:27:32.
Veteran Chris Harmse reached the podium at the Games for the fifth time in his career, with a silver medal in the men's hammer throw, launching a best effort of 73.49m.
Compatriot Ischke Senekal also took second place, in the women's discus throw, with a 50.53m attempt.
High jumper Chris Moleya (2.22m), shot put giant Jaco Engelbrecht (19.55m), decathlete Fredriech Pretorius (7 186 points), high jumper Julia du Plessis (1.80m), shot put specialist Sonia Smuts (15.92m), and javelin throwers Philmar van rensburg (76.85) and Jo-Ane van Dyk (50.54m) all pocketed bronze medals.
