GEORGE NEWS - The George parkrun celebrates its relaunch this coming weekend, Saturday 13 November. George parkrun liaison officer Wayne Ryder would like to see everyone there:
“After a long extended period of 19 months of just waiting and hoping, we are finally back up and running again this coming Saturday, 13 November. Our fantastic volunteers have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to get the readjusted 5km course back into perfect condition to make it all happen again.
So, shake off those lockdown blues, grab your dusty barcode and head on over to the botanical garden in Caledon Street this Saturday, 13 November at 08:00.
Get yourself, family and friends into nature for the re-opening of the beautiful George parkrun, which winds its way through the gardens over rivers and through fern forests set in the foothills of our scenic Outeniqua Mountains.
Remember to please arrive early (by 07:30) to ensure your place. Please note you will require a registered barcode to enter the parkrun which can easily be printed off the www.parkrun.co.za website, or type in “to register” on the George parkrun website.
This will allow you free access into the botanical garden for the parkrun. Producing your barcode will also allow you to park your car inside the grounds, should you wish to do so, for a fee of R10, entering via the Aloe Gate (main top gate).
This money goes towards the upkeep of the botanical garden. REMEMBER, NO BAR CODE = NO RESULT. If you don’t have a bar code you will need to be Covid screened and pay the normal botanical garden entrance fee of R20.
Covid regulations will apply with mask wearing until the start of the run. Remember that parkrun is not a race and all walkers, joggers and runners of all fitness levels are welcome.
Only one dog per person is permitted on a lead at all times. Children under the age of 11 years to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please remember to thank the volunteers along the way for their hard work to ensure that your parkrun experience is a smooth and enjoyable one.
See you there and we look forward to welcoming you back!
