GEORGE NEWS - The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) requires municipalities to inform residents of the quality of the effluent from its Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW).  

The quality of effluent must conform to either the General or Special Standard of the DWS General Authorization of 2013. 

The table in the pdf document illustrates the averages for George Municipality's WwTW, for the determinants in comparison with the DWS General Authorization and License in terms of chapter 4 and Section 39 of the National Water Act, 1998 (Act No. 36 of 1998).  

Final effluent samples are analysed weekly and the results are reported on the DWS Green Drop System (GDS) website.
