Strand woman in critical condition after cop boyfriend shoots her
NATIONAL NEWS - A Strand woman remains in a critical condition after she was shot by her police officer boyfriend, Nevell du Toit,before he committed suicide.

Police have corrected their earlier confirmation that 31-year-old woman had died of her wounds and say she remains in hospital.

The shooting in Dolphin Street took place shortly after 5am on Monday morning.

Thirty-five year-old du Toit, who was stationed in Macassar, died on the scene.

Neighbours who gathered outside the woman’s house say they heard gun shots ring out at 5:30am followed by a woman’s scream.

Resident André Phillips has described the incident as "shocking".
