NATIONAL NEWS - It is alleged that President Jacob Zuma is ready to step down and hand over his presidency to the next incoming African National Congress (ANC) president.
The president of a nation that’s currently on the brink of falling apart remarked, according to News24, that he is ready to leave his post as the head of the party happily.
This was on Sunday, 5 November during an Oliver Tambo lecture in Kagiso.
Zuma was welcomed by ANC supporters who sang his praises, even though he arrived three hours late. ANC members wore T-shirts depicting the face of presidential hopeful, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The turnout at the lecture was underwhelming, to say the very least, apparently because most potential audience members would have had to be bused in from other areas across the West Rand.
Zuma also allegedly stated that he was not pleased with some ANC leaders who had spoken at several events that were held in honour of Tambo across the country.
“Some used this opportunity to attack the organisation and other leaders. They acted like they knew Tambo, and some even said there is no longer good leadership in the party,” he continued.
Reacting to his detractors, Zuma said that after the December elective conference he will have a chance to deal with those who spoke ill of him. “I will have time to talk to the branches in whatever way I want. I am very happy that I am leaving my position in December,” he said.
