Two men were arrested in connection with a house robbery and held in police custody where they managed to escape.
One of the suspects was recaptured, while his accomplice jumped into the lake and drowned.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has also been roped in to investigate how the pair escaped.
The police's Kay Makhubele explains: “While they were in Parkview, they jumped and ran away from police. The police chased them. One suspect was caught. The other suspect continued to run towards the lake and threw himself into the dam, where he drowned.”
