Hawks boss investigated for perjury

NATIONAL NEWS - Police watchdog Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said it’s now investigating Hawks head Berning Ntlemeza for perjury in relation to alleged untruths in his affidavit filed at the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA).

Eyewitness News revealed yesterday that Ntlemeza has been accused of attempting to mislead the court, but he has described the error as a bona fide mistake.

The Hawks boss is petitioning the SCA to appeal a decision in the Durban High Court to set aside the suspension of KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Johan Booysen.

Ipid’s Robbie Raburabu has confirmed that Booysen has lodged a complaint against Ntlemeza, adding that the case will be investigated as required.
