The City Press newspaper reported on Sunday that the ANC’s integrity committee recommended that Fransman step down from his position for bringing the party into disrepute.
The committee investigated claims of sexual assault brought against the politician by his 21-year-old personal assistant, Louisa Wynand.
But Mantashe has denied this, saying the committee only recommended one thing.
"The importance of the committee is that the matter concerning comrade Marius Fransman, has been referred to the ANC disciplinary committee and this has been accepted."
