Police were called in to remove the suspicious object this morning, but luckily for parliamentarians and staff there was no need for panic.
Police with sniffer dogs arrived this morning to remove the black travel bag, which stood unattended in front of one of the parliamentary buildings in the precinct.
Journalists who witnessed the police’s tactical response to dealing with the suspicious object say the area was cordoned off.
Police approached the bag with great caution.
When opened, they found the bag was packed with clothes.
