NATIONAL NEWS - A man barricaded himself in his house in Athlone after shooting a policeman in the face.
A South African Police Service (Saps) special task team have now arrived at the house on the corner of Albemarle Street in Hazendal, following last night's shooting.
Cape Town law enforcement officials along with the Saps were responding to a complaint from a resident who had claimed her landlord’s dogs had attacked her.
The officials and the Saps were attempting to remove the dogs from the property when shots were fired by the landlord who had barricaded himself up in the house.

The officer was shot in the face and has since undergone emergency surgery and is recovering in hospital.
