NATIONAL NEWS - A water shutdown to effect maintenance in the Amanzimtoti area takes place on Wednesday, 11 March.
“Umgeni Water will have a four-hour shutdown to replace the new 375mm reservoir outlet valve, which is going to affect Lewis Drive high level and Athlone Park reticulation,” said ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge.
“It shouldn’t affect supply as reservoirs should be full and supply could last if people use sparingly for the period.”
Roads affected: Wanda Cele Road, Khonhto Mkhunya Road, Horseshoe Road, Wade Road, Bhengu Road, Kingfisher Road, Isundu Drive, Saltwood Road, Somerset Way, Crawford Road, Devon Road, Fynn Road, John Craven Road, Eland Avenue, Nyala Place, Mount Road, Mc Menamin Road, Lewis Drive, Dan Pienaar Road, Louis Botha Road, Umdoni Road, Kingsway Road, Ipahla Road, West Road, Oppenheimer Road, Cocking Place, Station Road, Heather Road, Chelsea Road, Fern Road, Cherry Road, Spencer Road, Wavecrest Road, New World Road and Golf Course Drive.
Businesses affected: Several bed and breakfasts in Ipahla Road, Arbour Crossing PnP and several shopping centre shops including Food Lovers Market, Shell Garage, Mc Donald’s, EWS fleet depot in Umdoni Road, Embogintwini Railway Station and the new Embogintwini Business Park.
Schools affected: Kingsway High School and Kuswag Skool.
“If a street name was exuded from the specified list by mistake, but if the street is located in the same area as those listed, then accept that that particular street will also be effected.”
