NATIONAL NEWS - The Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department said that at least 18 boys have been rescued from illegal initiation schools in Orange Farm, near Johannesburg.

The boys were reported missing earlier this week by their parents.

The department is also investigating allegations that bogus traditional surgeons are paying young boys money to kidnap their friends.

Spokesperson Nhlakanipho Nkontwana said: "Some of those boys were allegedly paid and this practise has been commercialised in the province, especially in urban centres so that’s possible."
