NATIONAL NEWS - The National Consumer Commission (NCC) yesterday announced two very different product recalls bringing to mind the alert, 'Baby on board' - milk powder formula for infants that may be toxic, and electric vehicles known for Scandinavian minimalism that may pose a fire risk.
NAN SPECIAL PRO HA INFANT FORMULA 800G
The NCC informed consumers of a recall of NAN Special Pro HA Infant Formula (0 - 12 months), which is intended for the dietary management of infants at risk of developing cow’s milk protein allergy.
The affected product is NAN Special Pro HA 800g with batch number 51660742F3. The product was produced in June 2025 through all major retailers and distributors across South Africa. It was also exported to Namibia and Eswatini.
The product recall follows the identification of a potential presence of Cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus, which constitutes a food safety concern.
The NAN infant formula has a lifespan of approximately eighteen months.
Consumers in possession of the affected NAN Special Pro HA Infant Formula 800g are urged to return the product to the point of purchase for a full refund.
372 VOLVO EX30 VEHICLES
372 Volvo EX30 vehicles are being recalled by the NCC, as notified by Volvo Car South Africa.
This recall affects certain EX30 Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance Vehicles Model Years 2024 to 2026, which were sold from 29 December 2025 in Gauteng.

In rare cases, the battery may overheat when charged to a high level, which could potentially result in a thermal event, posing a fire risk.
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to limit their car’s maximum charge level to 70% until a fix is available.
Consumers are urged to take this recall seriously and arrange for the necessary inspection and repair at their nearest authorised dealerships.
All corrective work relating to this recall will be carried out at no cost to the consumer.
