Her mother, who asked not to be named, said teenager went into labour around 05:30.
She was rushed to the clinic, but the nursing staff apparently said the teenager only had abdominal pain not linked to the pregnancy. She was referred to the Mamelodi hospital.
“We went home to phone for someone to take us to the hospital but my child gave birth to a healthy baby boy at home,” the mother said.
This was apparently not the first time a mother in labour had been turned away. Lucy Hartell said her cousin was also turned away.
