NATIONAL NEWS - The Broadcast, Electronic Media and Allied Workers Union (Bemawu) says its strike at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has already affecting news bulletins and other programming.
Staff at the public broadcaster started with their strike on Thursday morning with pickets outside various offices across the country.
They are demanding a 10% salary increase while the SABC is offering 4.5%.
The union’s Hannes du Buisson says: “On a number of stations news didn’t go out and there is programming that’s been severely affected. And of course we agree that this is not something that’s been done intentionally.”
