IEC Chairperson Mosotho Moepya says 10 million registration forms have been delivered across at least 22,500 stations.
The electoral body has come under fire in recent months for voter irregularities.
Earlier this week, the IEC announced it would be filing an urgent appeal in the Constitutional Court after it was forced to postpone by-elections in Tlokwe, following the discovery that more than 4,000 addresses were missing from the voters’ roll.
The commission says applicants registering to vote this weekend will have to provide an address located in their voting district, but it says proof of address is not a prerequisite.
