Barnes has been briefing Parliament’s telecommunications and postal services oversight committee for the first time since he took up the post in January.
The Post Office has been left reeling by a prolonged strike in 2014 as well as financial mismanagement, the dissolution of its board and alleged fraud and corruption.
Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s briefing comes ahead of the release this afternoon of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s report on her five-year long probe into alleged corruption and tender-rigging at the Post Office.
Barnes says he’s had sight of Madonsela’s report and another by the Special Investigating Unit.
