Police say the suspect fled during a shootout with officers in which another assailant was killed.
Two others were arrested following the incident.
The Independent Police investigative Directorate’s Robbie Raburabu said: "One suspect is still at large and the police are investigating case of hijacking and the Ipid is looking at the circumstances around the shooting.
"Allegedly, they abandoned their car and they tried to run actually. They were shooting at police and allegedly police returned fire."
