NATIONAL NEWS - A man was shot and wounded while fleeing from the police in Nellmapius.

His two accomplices escaped, spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said on Tuesday.

“The police patrol saw a suspicious car in the early hours of Sunday in Silverton and when they followed, the suspects began firing at the police,” he said.

“After a long chase (to Nellmapius), two suspects jumped out of the car and ran away. The third suspect also tried to escape but was shot in the upper body.”

The wounded man was recovering in hospital under police guard.
