The 26-year-old man was arrested at about 6.30am following an incident at a bike rally at Hawston, Hermanus, where two people, aged 22 and 25, were shot dead, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.
“According to reports, an argument occurred between the victims and the suspect [and] the suspect started shooting at the victims.”
An off-duty police officer stationed at Hermanus was also shot and was in a critical condition in hospital, along with another person who was shot in the stomach.
The man was expected to appear in court soon on charges of murder and attempted murder, Rwexana said.
