KAROO NEWS - All mountain passes that had been closed to traffic in the Eastern Cape have since reopened, and the snowfall has stopped, with the snow on the roads having melted away.
However, roads remain hazardous to motorists as they are wet and slippery. Motorists are urged to approach them with extreme caution.
Steady rains continue to pose challenges for road users, with some rural roads in the Chris Hani and OR Tambo Districts being affected.
The old R61 road at Mlengana Pass near Village has partially collapsed due to a mudslide, while a bridge at Sdubi Port in Cofimvaba is structurally compromised and may need to be closed soon.
