NATIONAL NEWS - Cricket South Africa (CSA) hosted a successful Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Indaba in Tshwane from 26 to 28 July.
At the event, the resolutions from the 2018 Transformation Indaba were revisited and the progress made by the cricket ecosystem over the past five years was assessed.
The indaba gathered thought leaders and cricket professionals, including players and player management, and explored strategies for advancing DEI initiatives within the sport.
The 16 CSA affiliates were represented by DEI chairpersons, CEOs, cricket services managers, coaches and developers.
Key discussions included selection patterns or trends and quality of opportunities, development approaches from grassroots to professional level, organisational leadership and diversity, equity and inclusion, the DSAC Transformation Charter, and sustainability of cricket in South Africa.
The SWD delegation that attended the indaba were Gary Moos (cricket services manager), Albertus Kennedy (chief executive officer), Micheal Eksteen (president), Gurshwin Rabie (head coach: Garden Route Badgers men’s team), Loyisho Shoto (chairperson of SWDC Transformation Committee) and Martelize van der Merwe (head coach: Garden Route Badgers women’s team).
