NATIONAL NEWS - A metro police officer, who is under investigation for shooting dead a man in Philippi, has been taken off active duty.
The officer has not been charged yet as the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is still investigating the incident.
It is alleged that the officer fired a shot at a man whom he had wanted to search last week.
The man allegedly tried to run away and pointed a firearm that turned out to be fake at the officer.
