Car splits in half in crash, 5 dead

NATIONAL NEWS - Emergency Services have confirmed five people have died in a crash on the R21 South near Nellmapius Road in Irene.

ER24 has said those who died were travelling in the same vehicle when it collided with another car, then rolled and split in half.

One person in the other car survived the crash, which happened in the early hours of this morning.

ER24’s Werner Vermaak said, “The driver of the Q7 was found walking around on the scene with minor injuries. He was treated by another ambulance service. At this stage the exact cause of the incident is not yet known.”
