NATIONAL NEWS - The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has added two additional Covid-19 hotline numbers, one for doctors and one for the public.
"Since the activation of the first Covid 19 public hotline number, the NICD has recorded high call volumes from the public hotline with a total of 324 062 calls received to date," the NICD said in a statement today.
The additional numbers will capacitate and upscale timeous response to inquiries:
- Doctors' only number: 0800 11 1131
- Hotlines for public: 0800 029 999 or 0800 111 132 (new number).
All lines operate 24 hours a day.
According to the NICD, they have recorded a high number of prank calls, and appeal to the public to desist from such behaviour as it takes away resources from those who need them the most.
