General Motors South Africa has released details surrounding the upgrades made to the 2016 Captiva range and here’s what you need to know:

New design features

The 2016 model gets a new grille and front fascia along with automatic LED daytime headlamps. All models now come with body colour cladding too as well as new 18-inch alloy wheels and integrated side steps. In terms of interior changes expect a new leather steering wheel and an all-new dashboard and instrument cluster.

Updated connectivity

The Captiva range now benefits from the inclusion of the MyLink infotainment system. The touchscreen unit features a seven-inch display, smartphone compatibility with Bluetooth/USB as well as app-integration.

Standard features

The Captiva range comes with a number of standard features over and above the aforementioned infotainment system. Expect an on-board computer, eight-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat, dual zone climate control, rear park assist, cruise control, keyless entry start, hill descent control and hill start assist as well as electric folding mirrors.

Engine and powertrain options

In terms of engine and gearbox options buyers have a choice between the 123kW/230Nm 2.4-litre petrol engine and a 135kW/400Nm 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine. The petrol unit is claimed to use just 8.8 litres/100km and get from 0-100km/h in 10.5 seconds (six-speed manual) and 11 seconds for the six-speed automatic. The diesel betters the petrol model’s figures with a consumption figure of 7.8 litres/100km and a 0-100km/h dash of 9.8 seconds.

Warranty and service

The Captiva range comes with the Chevrolet Complete Care Programme, which includes a warranty and Roadside Assistance for five years/120 000km as well as a three-year/60 000km service plan.
