Based on the 488 GTB and styled by Ferrari’s Design Centre, the SP38 is claimed to reflect the unnamed client’s “specific vision” and “deep passion for racing”, while also “expressing all the beauty and innovation inherent in Ferrari's road car”.
As such, the SP38 is said to feature styling traits inspired by the F40, namely the slashes over the now carbon fibre engine cover and flush the rear spoiler, while the thin front bumper is claimed to take inspiration from the 308 GTB.
Other unique touches include specific thin headlights with daytime running LEDs, concealed air scoop, a more dramatic roofline that integrates with the engine cover, smaller side windows, carbon fibre side skirts and front lip spoiler, twin-exhausts integrated into the centre rear fascia and hidden taillights separated by a black grille.
No interior images or technical details of the SP38 have been revealed, although as it rides on the 488 GTB’s platform, expect it come powered by the same 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 493kW/760Nm. Speculation, however, is that it could have been upgraded to the same spec as the 488 Pista, which has a power output of 530kW and torque of 770Nm.
