Leaked by US online platform autoguide.com, a post which has since been removed, the DBS Superleggera not only boasts exterior touches derived from its predecessor and the DB11, but also a grille, side vents and headlights reminiscent of the ultra-limited-run One-77.
Named after lightweight versions of the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera styled DB4, DB5 and DB6 and with the DBS moniker itself making a comeback after last being used in 2012 as a replacement for the original V12 Vanquish S, the newcomer’s interior also sports similarities with the DB11, while changes underneath the skin are likely to be more extensive.
A big departure from previous Vanquish variants though is underneath the bonnet, where the long serving normally aspirated 6.0-litre designated 5.9-litre V12 will give way to the DB11’s Mercedes-AMG sourced 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, which Auto Guide claimed will make 705 horsepower or 525kW as opposed to the 611kW previously claimed by Auto Express.
With the leaks having gone live, expect Aston Martin to make official details available within the coming days.
