According to reports, the two locomotive train operated by Norfolk Southern came off the tracks near the rural town of Blair in the early afternoon, while making its way from the German automaker's Greer Assembly Plant in Spartanburg County.
Reportedly 10 cars carrying examples of the X3, X4, X5 and X6 bound for export markets came off the tracks, with reports suggesting that 840 vehicles from the Spartanburg Automotive plant were on-board at the time.
The exact cause of the derailment has yet to be determined although no injuries were reported. It also remains unknown if the crash would lead to export delays in the coming months.
