Essentially a standard Land Cruiser with added levels of standard kit, the new Invincible X receives chrome exterior garnish, 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome tipped exhaust, with interior additions consisting of full leather trim, tripe-zone air-conditioning, premium surround sound audio system and Touch 2 infotainment system with satellite navigation.
Safety tech has also been stepped up Pre-Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keep Assist.
Unlike South African spec Prado's tough, the Land Cruiser makes do with the same 2.8 GD-6 turbodiesel used in the Hilux, with power rated at 130 kW and 450 N.m of torque. A six-speed automatic is the sole transmission offered.
Priced at £57 880 (R983 553), the Invincible X retails for R62 453 more than the equivalent South African spec Prado VX, despite local models still making do with the old 120 kW / 400 N.m 3.0 D-4D engine and five-speed auto box.
